You know when you meet someone and have an immediate connection with them? That’s how I felt the minute I met Paulina and Andre over Zoom! Their kind demeanor and joy was palpable, even through a screen. Meeting them in person on their wedding day solidified what I had a feeling about from that first meeting: these two were meant to end up together.
Paulina and Andre met in college and became friends, but lost contact over the years. When they reconnected, they both knew it was something special. They chose to have an intimate ceremony with their immediate families at Smith & Wollensky in Chicago.
But first they braved the snowy February weather and took some portraits at their alma mater, DePaul University. We took pictures in front of DePaul’s library, the same spot they first met! When we got to Smith and Wollensky for the ceremony, they were surprised with a room that had beautiful floor to ceiling windows overlooking the river, and the gently falling snow.
They ended the evening with an intimate dinner and cake cutting.
It’s hard to find the words to express how grateful I am to Paulina and Andre for letting me witness their love, and capture this moment. Luckily for me, I get to see them all again in October when I photograph Paulina’s younger sister Julia’s wedding!
